RARE raises over $17,000 for STAR!

On May 17th, over 200 friends of STAR gathered in New York at RARE: A Community Event, which was sponsored by Splash Car Wash and other generous donors. Families, researchers, and community members gathered and enjoyed music, activities, a farmer’s market, a magic show, pony rides and a petting zoo. Our researchers had the opportunity to share the incredible progress STAR has made, and to highlight our worldwide partnerships.
Proceeds from RARE funded two important STAR initiatives. First, funds contributed to funding a scientific grant to research partners at Rady Children’s Heath (Orange County, California) and the National Institutes of Health, who are working on gene editing techniques.
Second, each STAR family who attends the November 2026 in person meeting may apply to have their registration fee covered, thanks to funds raised at RARE.
The greater Lewisboro/Katonah New York community has shown so much love and support to STAR and the RARE community – we can’t thank them enough! This wonderful article summed up this special day: https://vocal.media/families/community-gathers-to-support-local-family-and-the-star-foundation
